General Information
Our Space
New Avenue School prides itself on cultivating a warm and supportive atmosphere where students feel secure and valued. Our dedication to their well-being is evident in the thoughtful design of our classrooms, which are tailored to accommodate a diverse range of needs:
-
Our classrooms are designed with sensitivity to the unique characteristics of neurodiversity, ensuring an inclusive environment for all.
-
We strive to minimise sensory stimuli, creating a calm and focused atmosphere conducive to learning.
-
Recognising the importance of attachment and emotional security, our spaces are crafted to promote a sense of belonging and connection.
-
With an awareness of potential trauma, we implement supportive measures to create a safe and nurturing environment.
-
Our aim is to foster an atmosphere of tranquility and inclusivity, where every student feels empowered to thrive.
Through a combination of comfortable furnishings and sensory elements, we aim to create an environment that supports students in developing effective self-regulation skills, preparing them for successful learning experiences.
Additionally, we incorporate visual aids to enhance communication and understanding, ensuring that our educational setting is accessible to all students.
Governance
Our Governance structure is composed of experienced individuals who are well versed in their areas of specialisms and dutybound, by their wider professional duties, to ensure that the children in our care are treated lawfully, safely and respectfully.
We are committed to developing and sustaining a governance model who emphatically understand the processes of safeguarding, child protection and the expectations of staff, and who would, with unequivocable doubt, escalate concerns about the leadership and/or any other member of staff in best interests of maintaining our pupils' welfare.
The chair of Governors is Teresa Coxford, who can be contacted on 07400 029992 or at Teresa.Coxford@me.com.
We will in due course be looking for a parent/carer governor and an external governor to lead on the QA/oversight of Quality of Education. All enquiries pertaining to this can be sent to Teresa Coxford.
The governing board will meet independently once every half-term and whenever there is a need. They will also undertake termly governance meetings where they will meet with New Avenue's leadership team to monitor, evaluate and quality assure the safety and effectiveness of the school's offer.
